Valentine’s Day 2022 | Resources for Positive Relationships

This Valentine’s Day, we’re talking about building and maintaining positive relationships.

Having healthy relationships in our lives does wonders for our mental and physical health. Fostering healthy relationships has been shown to increase our happiness, reduce our stress, and more.

So, what are our top tips for building positive, healthy relationships? Read on….

  1. Make time for your relationships

Connecting with people and making time for them will make them feel appreciated and loved. It’s important to prioritise your relationship, even when it’s hard to find the time.

Make sure the time you set aside is quality time. Put away your gadgets and pay attention to the other person.

  1. Be a good listener

One of the hardest things about communication is being good listener.

As a good listener you should aim to avoid:

  • Interrupting the other person
  • Giving unwarranted advice
  • Telling them why they shouldn’t feel that way
  • Trying to solve their problem for them.

  1. Set boundaries for yourself

It’s okay to put yourself first, too. If you don’t have the emotional capacity to put time aside time for someone, that’s okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Keep your life balanced and always remember that you need some ‘you’ time as well.
