On 20 February 2019, Time for Kids and RASA invited stakeholders of the Time for Kids program to join us in celebrating our new partnership.
The party celebrations offered us a great opportunity to get to know some of Time for Kids families, volunteer carers, donors, and supporters, forming a strong foundation for our new relationships with them. We were especially happy to put on a special line-up of activities for Time for Kids children to enjoy, including a photo booth, drum rhythms, a games corner, and the clear favourite – a nest of paper streamers, see the photos here.
We look forward to deepening our relationship with everyone invested in the Time for Kids program and making new connections in 2019 and beyond.
Time for Kids is a South Australian not for profit with a mission to create opportunities for children to achieve their full potential by providing volunteer care, enriching experiences and positive role models that support them in overcoming disadvantage. The organisation was founded in 1960 as the Society of Sponsors amidst concerns around the number of children entering the juvenile justice system, who seemed only to lack positive role models. Over the years, Time for Kids’ focus shifted from supporting children already in state care, to providing an early intervention service, preventing further family breakdown and interrupting the cycle of intergenerational disadvantage. Since its inception, more than 5,000 children and their families have been supported.
The Time for Kids program matches children and young people in need with volunteer carers and mentors, creating lasting, family-like relationships that change their life direction and improve their long-term outcomes – all through the transformative power of human relationships.
RASA’s Nikki Hartmann has enthusiastically taken on the role of Time for Kids new Program Manager.
