Our case managers are known for our persistent yet respectful assertive outreach ‘never-give-up’ approach when it comes to engaging with young people. If a student cannot come to us, SCILS staff will go to them. If a young person is finding it difficult to engage, we will work together with them and their caregivers, school and others to navigate a way forward.
We work restoratively/relationally with each young person, with a focus on strengths-based and person-centred practice approaches. We meet weekly, exploring and helping build students’ strengths, skills and capabilities to support them to reach their goals, and ultimately flourish and thrive in their learning and in their families and communities.
We work with students and young people who :
- Are enrolled in school but at risk of leaving early
- Are attending school but not actively participating in their education
- Are at risk of leaving school early and not pursuing employment or further education
- Have not maintained a connection to school and have significant patterns of non-attendance
