Our Autism Services team has over 20 years experience in supporting the learning and development of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and in providing support to families affected by ASD.
The service includes a free initial appointment where you will meet with an experienced Developmental Educator, who will discuss your options and with your input, design a support service plan, specifically tailored to your needs. This may include specialist assessments by our speech pathologists and occupational therapists.
Individual therapy incorporates behavioural, developmental, social learning and therapy-based interventions, addressing social, physical, intellectual and communication skills and emotional development. An individualised program will be developed to address the child’s range of needs. The program is delivered either at a Relationships Australia (SA) office or at your home.
Our support team includes a Program Coordinator, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Developmental Educators and Developmental Support Officers.
Our staff will work with you to support your child to develop a positive connection with all family members.
ASPIRE 3 Point Support Plan™
Each service plan consists of three components; Proactive, Preventative and Responsive. These plans are unique to Relationships Australia (SA) and the foundation of our Autism Services.
The Developmental Educator and Developmental Support staff work together to integrate recommendations from therapists and requests from families. Families may choose to implement the plan themselves or to use the services of a Developmental Support Officer to assist them.
Parent support and training: Triple P Stepping Stones
The Triple P Stepping Stones program is a five week evidence based program with additional follow up and support. Developed by Queensland University, the program is suitable for parents of children diagnosed with ASD aged between 2 and 9 years of age. The education and skills training course, comprises of five group sessions and four individual sessions. Home support is also offered with sibling and family counselling services available.
This program is based on cognitive behavioural and social learning theory and is designed to strengthen families’ capacity to support their children. Independent evaluation shows that the program can improve parent cooperation and wellbeing and significantly reduce the child’s behavioural and emotional problems.
