The Institute has considerable experience in resource development for community service practice. In particular, diversity issues, mental health, HIV and hepatitis and cultural competency are strong areas of expertise.

We have also developed a wide range of learning resources for community service workers and community sector organisations. These include formal self-paced materials for the Certificate IV in Youth Work and materials for shorter programs aligned to national competencies on topics such as Responding to Crisis, Facilitating Cooperative Behaviour and Facilitating Learning. In our Partnerships Against Domestic Violence program – Point of Contact: Responding to Children and Domestic Violence – we developed learning materials for nine different professional groups.

Part of our commitment to ongoing learning involves recognition that resources and materials that relate specifically to individual learners and workplaces make learning more accessible. Good quality learning materials support individuals and workplaces to make use of ‘the learning moments’ as they arise, rather than wait for classroom learning experiences. Learning resources also assist workplaces to provide induction and individual training programs which are tailored to the requirements of their workplace.
