On January 24, 2012, Relationships Australia (SA) became the 47th organisation to endorse the Charter of Rights for Children and Young People in Care.

CEO Judith Cross signed the certificate with the Guardian - Pam Simmons and accepted the Certificate on behalf of Relationships Australia (SA) staff who provide counselling, support and education through a network of offices and outreach centres across the state.

Children and young people in care want a simple and clear statement of what they can fairly expect while in care. The Charter of Rights was a written by children and young people in care with the help from the Office of the Guardian and the CREATE Foundation and input from carers, social workers, educators and others who care for children.

Endorsement obliges RASA to make the best effort to uphold the Charter of Rights. It sends a clear message to people internally and externally that RASA acknowledges that the interests of children and young people are important. More information about the Charter of Rights is available on their website.

Relationships Australia (SA)'s Charter Champion is Sharon Good, you can contact her via email.
