Credit Union Australia (CUA) wins community contribution award!
Last week CUA added another award to its Australian Banking & Finance “Credit Union of the Year 2009” title when it was named winner of the prestigious 2009 Australian Business Awards for Community Contribution. CUA was one of 67 organisations to win an award from a field of 928 entrants across various industries.
These awards recognise organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries and are judged by a panel of experts using specific criteria that reflect the program’s values of success, innovation and ethics.
A spokesperson for the Australian Business Awards said,
“The 2009 Awards attracted a very high standard of entries from the Australian business community in times of great change. This year’s winners displayed exceptional performance and leadership in their respective industries, and are role models for any organisation striving for business and product excellence.”
CUA’s entry included details of our cultural values as a mutual organisation and showcased three of our significant community investment programs.
Relationships Australia – a partnership aiming to arm Australians with the life skills and resources to affect positive, personal change by building better relationships for themselves and their families, specifically targeting financial issues and their effect on relationships.
School Fun Run – support for a healthy fundraising alternative for Australian schools seeking to raise vital funds other than through a traditional chocolate drive and to address the national childhood obesity epidemic.
Pets in Crisis – an initiative and rare relationship between a charity, government body and corporate, this partnership between CUA, RSPCA and dvconnect provides a solution to the problem of many domestic violence victims choosing to remain in their abusive situations due to an attachment to and threat of violence against their pets.
CUA supported Relationships Australia’s national photographic competition which was announced in the Weekend Australian Magazine on 31 May 2008.
