Therapeutic groups differ from educational groups, in that the focus is on facilitating process of learning in the sharing of stories/experiences and providing a supportive environment for making connections. Participants need to feel and be safe, supported and free to share their stories/experiences in a way that is not traumatising for them.
We will cover the role and task of the group facilitator, facilitator styles, skills, models and interventions, the group dynamic/process and difficulties within it and setting boundaries that enable the groups to function successfully.
